Field Trip Grants

The Alabama Power Foundation’s Field Trip Grant program supports K-12 educators in Alabama by providing financial assistance for educational excursions that enhance student learning and engagement. Applicants are evaluated on multiple factors including educational purpose, alignment with curriculum standards, learning outcomes, student reach, and the diversity of subject matter addressed in the proposed trips. Preference is given to trips that can yield long-term educational benefits or foster ongoing partnerships. Applications are judged on how well the trip supports educational goals, enhances cultural awareness, and offers meaningful opportunities for students, particularly those from underserved backgrounds. The program encourages a wide variety of topics, including history, science, environmental studies, and the arts, to ensure a holistic educational impact. This grant cycle is offered once annually. Award notifications are expected shortly after the close of the application period. Funds are disbursed directly to the schools, ensuring proper oversight and alignment with institutional goals. The program is part of the Alabama Power Foundation’s broader impact investing strategy, which includes a Program Related Investment initiative to support nonprofit and mission-driven entities with financial tools beyond traditional grants.
