Edges of Possibility
This initiative provides funding and support for innovative individuals working on transformative environmental and social change projects that challenge conventional systems and prioritize care for people and nature.
Unearthodox’s Exploration Co-Lab: Edges of Possibility is a bold initiative designed to support transformative innovation at the intersection of environmental and societal change. Hosted by Unearthodox and supported by the Mercator Foundation Switzerland, this open call invites radical thinkers, edge-walkers, and systems innovators to engage in a 12-month journey beginning in January 2026. The program seeks individuals whose visionary work often transcends conventional boundaries and remains under-supported by traditional funding mechanisms. Its primary aim is to nurture ideas capable of redefining how society cares for nature and people, particularly through slow, relational, and context-driven change. The initiative challenges the conventional notions of innovation, which often favor speed, scale, and measurable impact, by creating space for work that is experimental, deeply contextual, and systemic in nature. Unearthodox recognizes that transformative change emerges not from isolated efforts, but from those willing to challenge prevailing systems and imagine alternative futures. This open call is specifically for individuals currently navigating early-stage ideas related to environmental and social transformation and who are actively shaping new approaches to measurement, success, and care-centered innovation. Successful applicants will receive CHF 10,000 in grant funding to advance their ideas, as well as access to a shared pool of up to CHF 60,000 in tailored non-financial support. This includes personalized coaching, expert guidance, peer learning, systems and futures thinking, and strategic visibility. Participants will also gain exposure through Unearthodox’s platforms and benefit from being embedded in a global community of like-minded change-makers, mentors, and collaborators. Eligibility is focused on individuals who are courageous, curious, and committed to co-creating systemic change. The program is open to underrepresented voices globally and values diversity in age, identity, geography, and background. All participants must be fluent in English, and while Unearthodox especially welcomes applications from the global majority and historically excluded communities, the program is not intended for projects that reinforce dominant systems or prioritize profit over purpose. Applications for the 2026 cohort open on 28 October 2025 and close on 25 November 2025. The submission process is straightforward, with no mention of pre-application steps or gating criteria. Selection will be based on applicants’ alignment with the program’s values, their capacity to hold systemic questions, and their readiness to engage in a collaborative learning environment. The program encourages applicants to consider how their ideas challenge dominant paradigms and support life on Earth in new, more regenerative ways. Interested individuals are encouraged to contact colab@unearthodox.org for specific inquiries, or info@unearthodox.org for general questions. The program is managed by Unearthodox, located in Versoix, Switzerland. More information is available via their official communications channels, including their website and newsletter.
