Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation National Grant Program
This grant provides funding for innovative projects that empower youth and veterans with disabilities by developing their leadership and employment skills, while promoting inclusive job opportunities.
The Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation (MEAF) is the philanthropic arm of Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc., committed to supporting inclusive opportunities for young people with disabilities across the United States. The Foundation’s mission centers on fostering empowerment and increasing access to competitive employment for youth and young veterans with disabilities. MEAF emphasizes national-scale initiatives or replicable model projects that focus on youth leadership development and employment readiness. MEAF funds projects led by nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations that aim to develop the leadership and employment skills of youth with disabilities or create tools and strategies that break down employment barriers. These projects must present innovative solutions that lead to measurable outcomes in employment and must clearly define plans for evaluation, replication, and national dissemination. MEAF seeks to support projects that encourage full inclusion, ensuring youth with disabilities participate alongside peers without disabilities and promoting inclusive employment practices. Grant proposals must clearly demonstrate how the primary beneficiaries are U.S.-based youth with disabilities or young veterans with disabilities who are transitioning into the civilian workforce. MEAF accepts only proposals that emphasize measurable impact and national relevance. Projects that lack a national scope or potential for expansion across the country are not eligible. The Foundation provides annual grants ranging typically from $10,000 to $100,000 per year for a duration of one or two years. Approximately six to twelve grants are awarded each year. MEAF does not support individuals, political organizations, local-only initiatives, endowment or capital campaigns, fundraising events, sectarian activities, or projects that are already completed. Ineligible entities include individual schools or school districts, intermediary funding organizations, or those with discriminatory hiring practices. The grant cycle begins annually on July 15, with online proposals accepted through November 1. Funding decisions are made by March 15 of the following year, with approved project funding commencing on April 1. There is an online eligibility quiz that applicants must complete to access the grant proposal application. The Foundation defines youth broadly—from birth through college age (approximately 26). For additional information, interested organizations should consult the Foundation’s website or take the eligibility quiz to determine if their project aligns with MEAF’s priorities. The Foundation does not accept requests for product donations and instead recommends visiting www.good360.org for such inquiries.
