Dr. Austin Harris Empowerment Grant
This grant provides financial support to undergraduate student-athletes in the U.S. who demonstrate excellence in both academics and athletics, helping them pursue their educational and athletic goals.
The Dr. Austin Harris Grant for Student Athletes is a private philanthropic initiative established by Dr. Austin Harris, a practicing Anesthesiologist and Medical Director at NeuroRelief Ketamine & Infusion Therapy. With extensive expertise across multiple subspecialties of anesthesiology and a growing engagement in innovative mental health interventions, Dr. Harris created this grant to support student-athletes who embody excellence both academically and athletically. The grant reflects his philosophy that success arises from a holistic commitment to personal development, discipline, and resilience. The purpose of the Dr. Austin Harris Grant is to empower undergraduate student-athletes by easing their financial burdens and reinforcing their commitment to dual pursuits in higher education and athletics. It offers a $1,000 award to one deserving candidate who demonstrates a sustained dedication to both their academic journey and athletic aspirations. By supporting these students, the grant aims to nurture individuals who contribute positively to their communities through personal example and perseverance. The funding may be used for education-related expenses, including tuition, textbooks, and other academic costs. It is awarded as a one-time disbursement and does not require matching funds. There are no limitations or restrictions on specific fields of study or athletic disciplines, encouraging a broad range of applicants from across the academic and sports spectrum. Eligible applicants must be currently enrolled undergraduate students at accredited colleges or universities in the United States, actively participating in collegiate athletics or intending to pursue a professional path in sports. A satisfactory academic record is required. The application process includes submission of an online application form, a 500โ750 word essay responding to a defined prompt about character and aspirations shaped by athletics, an academic transcript, and a letter of recommendation from a coach, professor, or mentor. Applications for this grant are due by January 15, 2026. The recipient will be announced one month later on February 15, 2026. While the grant is not part of a recurring program, potential applicants are encouraged to stay updated in case of future iterations. All application materials must be submitted via email to apply@draustinharrisgrant.com. The program provides a valuable opportunity for student-athletes to receive not only financial assistance but also recognition of their efforts and ambitions.
