The 2025 SNAP-Ed Food Box Grant Program, administered by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, supports nutrition education and increases local produce access in SNAP-eligible communities across New York State. This program offers a total of $300,000 in funding, with a maximum of $10,000 per grant. Projects must provide food boxes, farm stands, or similar services that accept SNAP/EBT benefits, with a project term running from March 1 to September 15, 2025.
Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organizations, Indian tribal organizations, and local or municipal governments. Projects must target SNAP-eligible areas, operate at least 12 weeks, and provide direct, evidence-based nutrition education, which includes USDA-approved materials and may involve cooking demonstrations or social media activities. Grantees are also required to report nutrition education data using the Program Evaluation and Reporting System (PEARS).
Funding covers salaries for program staff, travel for program materials, small kitchen equipment, and nutrition education supplies, among other costs. However, funds cannot be used for food purchases, equipment over $5,000, or unrelated administrative costs. Applications are due by December 6, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. and must be submitted via email to the Program Manager.
