Grant Description

The Path to Pro Education Grants: National program is administered by The Home Depot Foundation to support the growth and sustainability of skilled trades training across the United States. This initiative provides up to $10,000 per grant in the form of Home Depot gift cards to assist with tools, products, equipment, and the development or remodeling of training spaces for educational and nonprofit institutions. The grant is part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to addressing the skilled labor gap and fostering career-readiness within trades like carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and construction management. Eligible applicants for this funding opportunity include accredited K–12 schools, accredited community and technical colleges, and registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, all of which must have an established construction-related skilled trade program. Applicants are required to be based in the United States and must demonstrate a track record of at least three years in operation, with an annual budget of at least $300,000. In place of financial audits, schools may submit exemption documentation. The core mission of the program must focus on workforce training, job placement, and/or career-readiness within the skilled trades sector. The grant’s application process is open on a rolling basis, enabling qualified organizations to apply at any time. Applications are submitted via an online portal, where users must register or log in to access the grant form. Only one request may be submitted per organization. Once a complete application is submitted, The Home Depot Foundation commits to responding within 45 days to inform the applicant of approval status and next steps regarding the disbursement of funds. In line with its focus, the Foundation will not consider applications from individuals, organizations supporting four-year degrees exclusively, for-profit businesses, or any group that has been in operation for fewer than three years. Additionally, the program excludes funding for endowments, capital campaigns, recreational or athletic teams, political entities, or discriminatory organizations. Religious organizations may only apply if their activities are non-sectarian, serve a broad public, and are independently registered as 501(c)(3) entities. Applicants may use awarded funds only for direct program-related expenses. The Home Depot Foundation’s emphasis on practical, scalable support through in-kind contributions aims to accelerate the growth of high-quality training environments and foster a sustainable pipeline of skilled trade professionals prepared to enter the U.S. workforce. Organizations are encouraged to apply through the grant portal and direct inquiries to the foundation's contact email for additional guidance.
