Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) Phase II

The Administration for Community Living (ACL) is inviting applications for the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program – Phase II under the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR). This funding opportunity is designed to support small businesses in conducting research and development (R&D) projects that address the needs of individuals with disabilities. The primary focus is on fostering technological innovation and expanding commercialization of research findings that improve the health, employment, and community participation of people with disabilities. The principal investigator must be primarily employed by the small business, and at least half of the research or analytic effort must be performed by the grantee. Joint ventures are permitted as long as the entity meets small business criteria. Applications must include a project narrative detailing the research objectives, commercialization plan, and budget justification. The total estimated funding for this opportunity is $1,150,000, with an award ceiling of $287,500 per budget period and a floor of $280,000. Each award spans a 24-month project period divided into two 12-month budget periods. The submission process requires registration with the System for Award Management (SAM) and Grants.gov, and applicants must submit their proposals electronically. The deadline for the letter of intent is February 7, 2025, and the final application submission is due by March 10, 2025.
