Classroom Supply Grants
This grant provides funding to Oklahoma public schools for essential consumable art supplies to enhance visual and performing arts education for PreK-12 students.
The Oklahoma Arts Council, the official state agency for the support and development of the arts in Oklahoma, offers the FY2025 Classroom Supply Grants for Visual and Performing Arts. These grants address a critical need in Oklahoma schools for consumable classroom art supplies, which are fundamental for delivering high-quality visual and performing arts education. By supporting PreK-12 public school sites, the program seeks to bolster the arts' role in student development and educational success. Schools throughout the state have reported the necessity of these materials in maintaining effective arts programs, and this initiative is one of the Council’s direct responses to meet that demand. Eligible schools may receive up to $500 per site per school year for the purchase of non-permanent, consumable materials necessary for arts instruction during the school day. The funds must be used for materials in disciplines such as visual arts, music, dance, and drama/theatre. Eligible expenses include sheet music, art supplies, materials for performance costumes or set pieces, and cleaning materials. Prohibited items include durable equipment such as musical instruments, technology devices, easels, kilns, or any items with a lasting physical life beyond the immediate classroom need. Software rentals are permitted where applicable to instruction. To apply, eligible schools must have at least one part-time arts instructor in the discipline for which the supplies are being requested. Each school site may submit only one application. Applications must be submitted through the Oklahoma Arts Council’s Fluxx grant portal. For schools new to the system, account registration and eligibility verification must be completed by August 23, 2025, at 5:00 p.m., as the review may take up to 15 days. The grant application portal opens on August 1, 2025, and applications must be submitted by September 15, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Evaluation of applications will be based on a school’s demonstrated commitment to arts instruction and efforts to create equitable access to arts education. Priority will be given to schools located in rural counties (defined as those with fewer than 50,000 residents) and those where at least 70 percent of students are eligible for Title I assistance. Schools must articulate how the supplies will be used to meet state or national standards in arts education. Approved applicants are required to purchase the supplies themselves and then submit a final report, including general descriptions and documentation of purchases, through the grant portal. Funds are disbursed after the final report is reviewed and accepted by the Council and may take up to six weeks to process. While the Oklahoma Arts Council does not require a specific vendor for purchases, applicants are encouraged to follow their district’s procurement policies. For questions regarding supply eligibility or application assistance, schools can contact the Arts Education Director at the Oklahoma Arts Council. Additional resources such as the Arts Education Development Guide and classroom-based tools are available through the Council's website to further support arts educators. The Council’s office can be reached at 405-521-2040 or grants@arts.ok.gov.
