Blue Impact Grant
This funding opportunity supports nonprofit organizations in Texas that are focused on improving community health and wellness by addressing social determinants of health through various targeted initiatives.
The Blue Impact Grant is a philanthropic initiative led by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX), a healthcare organization with over 95 years of service in supporting the health and well-being of Texans. Through its charitable giving strategy, BCBSTX collaborates with community organizations, local leaders, and policymakers to enhance health outcomes across the state. Community investment at BCBSTX is strategically divided into three pathways: general grants, sponsorships, and the Blue Impact grant program. Among these, the Blue Impact grants are specifically structured to support nonprofit-led initiatives that produce sustainable and measurable improvements in key areas of community health. Blue Impact grants target five distinct focus areas: economic opportunity and stability, nutrition, neighborhood and built environment, locally defined health solutions, and optimal health outcomes. These focus areas are broad in scope yet tightly aligned with fundamental determinants of health. For instance, eligible projects may address issues like poverty alleviation, access to healthy food, affordable housing, transportation, physical activity, behavioral and cardiovascular care, immunizations, and maternal and infant health. To ensure the community’s needs are effectively met, BCBSTX emphasizes support for hyperlocal solutions tailored to address specific local health disparities. The program is open to nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations that operate with a current annual budget of $2 million or more. Applicant organizations must demonstrate financial stability and sufficient staff capacity to execute and manage the proposed programs. The grant program explicitly excludes support for individuals, political or religious activities, telethons, athletic programs, and other activities that do not align with BCBSTX’s core funding priorities. All proposals must directly benefit residents of Texas and meet the organization’s inclusive non-discrimination policies. The application process for the FY27 Blue Impact Grant follows a single-step format, with no initial Letter of Intent or multi-phase submission stages. The application portal opens on January 12, 2026, and closes on January 30, 2026. Applications received after this date will not be considered. As part of the submission, applicants must provide key financial documentation including a current 990 or W-2 form from 2023 or 2024, along with a 2024 W-9. Applications that fail to meet documentation requirements may be deemed ineligible. Award amounts for the Blue Impact Grant range from $25,000 to $75,000. Following the review process, all applicants will be notified of funding decisions by approximately June 1, 2026. Selected grantees will receive funds starting on July 1, 2026. Interested organizations can apply through the designated Blue Impact Application portal using the invitation code “TX_BLUE.” This grant represents an opportunity for high-capacity nonprofits to implement targeted community programs that promote equity, wellness, and sustainable health infrastructure across Texas. It reinforces BCBSTX’s long-standing commitment to improving the overall quality of life for Texans through investments in prevention, care access, and socioeconomic stability.
