Science for Nature and People Partnership (SNAPP) Request for Proposals
This grant provides funding for interdisciplinary teams of scientists, policymakers, and practitioners to develop practical solutions for nature conservation and human well-being challenges.
The Science for Nature and People Partnership (SNAPP) is a collaborative initiative spearheaded by The Nature Conservancy and the Wildlife Conservation Society. It aims to unite scientists, policymakers, and practitioners to solve critical challenges at the intersection of nature conservation and human well-being. Each year, SNAPP funds four to six working groups with a combined total of up to $1 million, supporting interdisciplinary teams dedicated to outcome-oriented, rapid science. The 2025 SNAPP Request for Proposals (RFP) invites expert teams to submit concept notes between November 3, 2025, and January 6, 2026. Submission of a concept note is a mandatory first step; only those selected will be invited to submit a full proposal. Working groups are expected to engage 12–15 members from various sectors including non-profits, academia, indigenous and community organizations, and government. Each group must include 2–3 Principal Investigators from separate institutions, a full-time research fellow, and must convene in person 2–3 times over a 24-month period while maintaining ongoing collaboration remotely. SNAPP emphasizes projects that are co-designed with implementers and decision-makers. Proposals should focus on transforming scientific knowledge into practical conservation and sustainability outcomes. Evaluation criteria include the significance and relevance of the science question, appropriateness of methods and data, anticipated high-impact outputs, and the diversity and inclusivity of the team. The implementation plan must identify committed partners and include detailed support letters. All projects must include a research fellow and a mentorship plan. SNAPP applies a strict 0% indirect cost policy. Proposals must demonstrate how outcomes will inform policies or practices, and how partners will use co-developed products like reports, tools, or policy briefs. The expected funding can support work that leads to real-world, evidence-based conservation change. The concept note deadline is January 6, 2026, followed by a review period through February 17, 2026. Full proposal invitations will be sent on February 17, 2026, with full proposals due by April 6, 2026. Final working group selections will be made in June 2026, and the grant execution process will commence in July 2026. Interested applicants must create an account on the SNAPP portal to access and submit the concept note form. For questions or technical issues, applicants may contact the SNAPP Secretariat via email at [email protected]. However, proposal submissions must be completed through the online portal as emails will not be accepted for submission.
