Grant Description

The AmeriHealth Caritas Foundation is committed to addressing and preventing adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), as well as promoting protective and compensatory experiences (PACEs) that support positive health outcomes and long-term wellness for children. The Foundation’s grantmaking is structured around three key pillars: empowered families, healing behaviors, and access to health care. These pillars are intended to foster supportive environments and access to necessary resources for children and families, particularly in underserved communities. To advance these objectives, the Foundation prioritizes nonprofit organizations that aim to prevent and mitigate ACEs by equipping families and children for emotionally healthy futures. The 2025 grant funding cycle offers project-specific, one-year grants with awards ranging from $100,000 to $250,000. The total funding allocation for this cycle is expected to be up to $1.945 million. Funded projects must align with the Foundation’s pillars and show potential for measurable community impact, especially among populations with a high proportion of Medicaid enrollees. Eligible applicants must be IRS-designated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or have a qualifying fiscal sponsor, be located in one of the Foundation’s Medicaid health market states or territories, have been operational for at least three years, and have annual revenue below $10 million. Additionally, applicants must have a recent IRS Form 990 available and be capable of managing the project’s implementation and oversight. The grant application process is conducted in two phases. Interested organizations must first submit a Letter of Intent (LOI), which includes organizational and financial details along with a 1,000-word narrative describing the proposed project. Selected applicants are then invited to submit a full proposal, which includes comprehensive project plans and a detailed budget. The LOI submission deadline is June 25, 2025, and decisions will be communicated by July 21, 2025. Final funding decisions will be made by October 2025. To support applicants, the Foundation will host a virtual information session on Wednesday, June 4, from noon to 1 p.m. Eastern Time. A recording of the session will be made available afterward. The application portal for LOI submissions opened on May 28, 2025. For more information or inquiries, applicants can contact the Foundation at info@amerihealthcaritasfoundation.org. The Foundation’s mailing address is 3875 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. All grantees are expected to comply with relevant legal requirements throughout the grant period, and the Foundation retains the right to withdraw funding in cases of noncompliance.
