Burning Foundation Grant
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations focused on environmental protection and teen pregnancy prevention initiatives in the Pacific Northwest.
The Burning Foundation is a private grantmaking organization focused on two primary areas: environmental protection and teen pregnancy prevention. With a mission to safeguard the ecological health of the Pacific Northwest and improve the lives of young people, the Foundation supports nonprofit organizations implementing regional strategies aligned with these goals. Environmental grants are directed toward efforts that protect rivers, forests, native fish populations, and natural land across states such as Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska. Teen pregnancy prevention efforts are supported through evidence-based educational strategies and health-focused outreach programs for adolescents. The Foundation operates on a biannual grant cycle, with deadlines occurring each spring and fall. Applications must begin with a Letter of Interest (LOI), and only selected organizations will be invited to submit full proposals. LOIs for the fall 2025 cycle are due Friday, September 26, 2025. Invited full proposals are due Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Spring cycles follow a similar structure, with LOIs due the last Friday of March and full proposals due the first Wednesday in May. Applicants will be notified of proposal invitations at least two weeks prior to the proposal deadline. Organizations denied at either stage must wait one year before reapplying. Eligible applicants must be nonprofit organizations classified under IRS 501(c)(3). While the Foundation does not publish specific award amounts or funding totals, grant support is known to vary based on project size and relevance to program priorities. The Foundation does not fund individuals, capital projects, or programs outside its defined geographic or thematic scope. Grantseekers are encouraged to carefully review the Foundation’s guidelines before applying. Funding in the environmental category includes but is not limited to conservation initiatives, habitat restoration, environmental education, and legal advocacy. For the teen pregnancy prevention category, eligible programs may include school-based health education, reproductive health access initiatives, and culturally competent outreach to underserved youth populations. Strong emphasis is placed on measurable outcomes and the ability to scale or sustain successful programming. All application materials must be submitted through the Foundation’s designated grant portal. First-time applicants are encouraged to contact the Foundation to verify eligibility before submission. Final funding decisions are made following internal review of full proposals, with notifications typically issued later in the grant cycle. The Foundation supports both new and established organizations, provided they demonstrate capacity, strategic alignment, and accountability in program delivery.
