City of Coronado Mini-Grant 2025
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations in Coronado to support community events, services, and activities that promote local cohesion and engagement.
The City of Coronado’s Community Grant Program is a municipal initiative aimed at fostering community cohesion by partnering with local nonprofits to efficiently deliver events, services, and activities. Guided by Council Policy 28, the program is designed to ensure that nonprofit organizations can administer programs and purchases more effectively and economically than the municipal government could independently. Council Policy 28 outlines key aspects of the program including the mission, funding structure, eligibility criteria, application processes, evaluation methods, and reporting requirements. For Fiscal Year 2025–26, the City Council approved several one-time updates to the Community Grant Program to improve overall efficiency and reduce administrative burdens. These changes include the introduction of a new mini-grant program, automatic renewal options for certain grantees, and a streamlined application process for new applicants. Organizations that previously received funding and meet renewal criteria may bypass the full application process by submitting a Letter of Intent and a brief Program Update to confirm eligibility. Mini-grants are available for nonprofit organizations that are not eligible for automatic renewal. These grants offer up to $15,000 in funding per organization. The mini-grant application process has been significantly simplified to make it more accessible and less time-consuming. Applications for the mini-grant opened on February 15, 2025, and will close on April 15, 2025. The same timeline applies to the submission of Letters of Intent for those pursuing automatic renewal. Following the application period, staff will review submissions from April 15 through May 31, 2025. Funding recommendations will be posted with the City Council agenda on June 12, 2025. Final funding decisions will be made by the City Council at their regular meeting on June 17, 2025. Funding distribution is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2025. Additionally, grant recipients from FY 2024–25 must submit their final reports by July 15, 2025. Applicants seeking mini-grants or renewals are encouraged to review the Mini-Grant Process Overview and related council documents for detailed instructions. All questions or correspondence related to the Community Grant Program can be directed to the City of Coronado at 619-522-7300 or by visiting City Hall at 1825 Strand Way, Coronado, CA 92118.
