Grant Description

The Danone Institute North America (DINA) has launched its 2025-2027 Sustainable Food Systems Initiative, accepting grant proposals from eligible teams in the US and Canada. This year, in partnership with the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR), the initiative will award eight grants, marking its largest funding pool to date with $410,000. Five grants will focus on transdisciplinary projects aimed at improving the nutritional health of adult populations, while three additional FFAR-funded grants will target agricultural communities. Each selected team will receive $50,000 over a two-year period to design, implement, and evaluate community-based sustainable food system projects that address human health and nutrition. Grantees will also attend a communications training workshop to amplify their work across North America. An extra $10,000 will be awarded in fall 2025 to the team with the most effective communications plan. Eligible teams must include four members representing diverse disciplines such as nutrition, agriculture, health, economics, and environmental sciences, with at least one member serving as a current academic faculty member. Past initiatives supported by DINA have included food upcycling programs, nutrition support for food-insecure populations, and energy-efficient food production. Applications are due by February 14, 2025, at 5 p.m. EST. For more information or to submit a proposal, visit The Danone Institute North America.
