Loudoun County’s Human Services Nonprofit Grant
This funding opportunity supports local nonprofit organizations in Loudoun County that provide essential human services to vulnerable individuals and families, helping them achieve safety, health, and independence.
Loudoun County’s Human Services Nonprofit Grant Program offers critical local funding for nonprofits serving vulnerable and disadvantaged residents through health and human services. Designed to strengthen partnerships between the county and the nonprofit sector, this grant initiative aims to support services that address core safety net needs, including safety, health, security, and independence. The program’s strategic focus is on leveraging local tax dollars for services that produce measurable positive outcomes and long-term benefits for county residents. This annual grant program supports four primary service categories: Crisis Intervention and Diversion, Improved Quality of Human Services, Long-Term Support, and Prevention and Self-Sufficiency. Crisis services are intended to stabilize individuals and families facing urgent issues, while improvement initiatives seek to boost service coordination and accountability across the human services sector. Long-term supports address ongoing care needs, and prevention strategies help individuals and families achieve or maintain independence and stability. The program offers two distinct funding options. The standard grant track is available for awards ranging from $5,001 to $135,000, while a mini-grant option supports requests up to $5,000 through a simplified process. The total amount awarded may be proportional to application scoring and funding availability. All applicants must complete a detailed budget reflecting only the amount requested from the county, with narrative justifications and cost breakdowns. The process includes a comprehensive review and evaluation period, with award decisions made by the Board of Supervisors. Eligibility is restricted to nonprofits certified as 501(c)(3) organizations that are financially stable, in good standing with the Virginia State Corporation Commission, and not already funded by local tax dollars via other county agreements. Additional restrictions apply to faith-based organizations: applicants must demonstrate independence from religious institutions and show that programs are non-discriminatory and secular in purpose. The application process for FY 2027 opened on November 21, 2025. A pre-application webinar is scheduled for December 9, 2025, and the deadline for questions is January 2, 2026. Final applications must be submitted by January 23, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. EST. Applications will be reviewed in February and March 2026, with award recommendations presented to the Board of Supervisors in May. Award notices will follow shortly, and funding begins July 1, 2026. Reporting requirements vary by grant type, with standard grantees submitting quarterly reports and mini-grantees submitting final reports only. For additional information or accessibility accommodations, applicants can contact nonprofits@loudoun.gov. Updates and materials, including webinar recordings and program manuals, are available at the Loudoun County grant program webpage.
