We Believe in Growing Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial support to high school seniors in five California counties who are pursuing a college education in agriculture and demonstrate a commitment to advancing the agricultural industry.
The “We Believe in Growing” Scholarship, sponsored by Coast Counties Peterbilt in partnership with the World Ag Expo, is a regional academic funding opportunity designed to support the next generation of agricultural leaders. This scholarship reflects the sponsor's commitment to advancing agricultural education by providing direct financial assistance to students who are planning to pursue careers in agriculture. With deep roots in the agricultural community, Coast Counties Peterbilt seeks to invest in promising high school seniors who demonstrate passion and intent to contribute meaningfully to the industry. The scholarship is open exclusively to graduating high school seniors residing in one of five California counties: Madera, Fresno, Tulare, Kings, or Kern. Eligible applicants must be planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university and major in an agricultural field. Applicants who have not yet received confirmation of admission are still encouraged to apply, provided they list the institutions to which they have applied. A demonstrated interest in agriculture as a career path is a required component, making this opportunity tailored to students committed to advancing agricultural development through education and innovation. Two scholarships, each valued at $10,000, will be awarded. The funds are distributed in annual installments of $2,500 over four years, and they are sent directly to the university the student attends. These funds must be used exclusively for educational expenses such as tuition, books, and academic-related fees. Academic performance and financial need are considered in the review process, but they are not the sole determinants of selection. The quality and completeness of the application are also heavily weighted, emphasizing the importance of submitting all required materials in accordance with the guidelines. To apply, students must submit a complete application packet, which includes official transcripts, ACT or SAT scores, and two letters of recommendation. Handwritten or incomplete submissions will not be considered. The packet must be mailed in a 9" x 12" or larger envelope and must not be folded or stapled. Applicants are required to submit two unstapled copies of the application packet. All applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on January 16, 2026. Postmarked applications received after this deadline will not be accepted. Applicants selected for interviews will be notified prior to the World Ag Expo in February and will be required to bring a professional photo to the interview. This in-person step offers the selection committee an opportunity to better understand each candidate’s motivations and aspirations. The scholarship committee aims to identify individuals who demonstrate both a genuine interest in agriculture and a strong potential for future contributions to the field. As part of the application process, students must complete a one-page essay explaining their educational and career goals, including how they plan to make an impact in agriculture and the steps they have taken toward those goals. Additionally, applicants are asked to answer six short-answer questions covering topics such as participation in FFA or 4-H, extracurricular involvement, work experience, financial need, other sources of financial assistance, and any other relevant personal insights. These responses help the committee build a comprehensive understanding of each candidate’s background, achievements, and potential. This scholarship is a recurring opportunity, offering annual awards aligned with the academic cycle. Students selected as recipients will be supported throughout their undergraduate studies, subject to compliance with the scholarship terms. For questions or further assistance, applicants may contact Kerissa Chapman at 559.782.5800 or via email at [email protected]. All materials must be sent to Coast Counties Peterbilt, Attn: Kerissa Chapman, 15243 Road 192, Porterville, CA 93257.
