Langlade County Opioid Taskforce Grant
This funding opportunity provides financial support for community-based initiatives in Langlade County aimed at reducing opioid-related harm and improving public health outcomes through prevention, treatment, and recovery services.
The Langlade County Opioid Taskforce Grant is a locally administered funding opportunity established to address the ongoing impact of the opioid epidemic in Langlade County, Wisconsin. The initiative is funded through national legal settlements with opioid manufacturers, distributors, and pharmacies, which have provided financial resources to counties and municipalities across the country. Langlade County has chosen to deploy these resources through a community-informed grantmaking process aimed at reducing opioid-related harm and improving public health outcomes. This grant program is managed by the Langlade County Opioid Taskforce, a coalition of local government, health, legal, recovery, and public safety stakeholders working together to direct funds toward meaningful, evidence-based interventions. The overarching goal of the grant is to support community-based initiatives that fall within the opioid remediation categories outlined in Exhibit E of the national settlement guidelines. All funded activities must directly support opioid prevention, treatment, recovery, or related mitigation strategies, and must serve residents or communities within Langlade County. To ensure alignment with community needs, the Taskforce conducted an extensive engagement process, including surveys of key stakeholder groups, public outreach, and one-on-one interviews. These efforts informed the creation of a tiered priority framework that ranks funding areas by community urgency and strategic importance. Priority areas for funding are categorized into three tiers. Tier 1, which receives the highest priority, includes Treatment Services and Recovery Support—reflecting the community’s immediate need for direct intervention and post-treatment stabilization. Tier 2 covers Transportation and Access Barriers, as well as Youth Prevention and Education, acknowledging systemic obstacles and the importance of early intervention. Tier 3 includes emerging areas such as Mental Health Support and Family Support Services, which are vital to sustaining long-term recovery but may be less developed in the current service landscape. To qualify for funding, applicants must demonstrate capacity to deliver effective services in Langlade County and align their project with one or more of the identified priority areas. Proposals must include measurable outcomes, a clear data collection plan, and adhere to strict compliance with Exhibit E. Ineligible costs include any activities unrelated to opioid remediation, such as general operating expenses, law enforcement operations not tied to opioid issues, promotional items, food and beverages, existing debts, or already-paid invoices. The application deadline for the current cycle is April 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Proposals must be submitted electronically using the official application form provided by the county. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Award notifications will follow a formal review process in which the Taskforce will score proposals using a defined rubric that evaluates alignment with priorities, clarity of project design, expected impact, and strength of the budget narrative. Recommendations are then forwarded to policymakers for final approval and funding decisions. Organizations selected for funding will be required to sign a contract and submit periodic outcome and budget reports throughout the grant cycle. Although the current application pertains to a single cycle, applicants are permitted to reapply for funding once per year, which indicates that the program is intended to operate on a recurring annual basis. All program inquiries can be directed to the Langlade County Health Department via email at [email protected] or by phone at 715-627-6250.
