The NiSource Charitable Foundation Fund for Merrimack Valley, managed by the Essex County Community Foundation (ECCF), offers grants to nonprofit organizations supporting initiatives in Basic Needs & Hardship Assistance, Economic & Workforce Development, Safety, STEM and Energy Education, and Environmental Stewardship. This program seeks to make collaborative and sustainable investments in the communities of Andover, Lawrence, and North Andover. Grants range from $25,000 to $200,000, with applications due by January 15, 2025.
Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and collaborations involving two or more nonprofits. Municipalities in Lawrence, Andover, and North Andover may participate as sub-grantees or collaborators but cannot serve as the lead applicant. While preference is given to organizations based in the three designated communities, organizations located outside the area may apply under two conditions: they must either demonstrate a proven history of working successfully in those communities or propose an innovative solution addressing an unmet need that benefits the Merrimack Valley.
Applicants may submit proposals for individual programs or collaborative, cross-sector initiatives. The fund prioritizes solutions that address core areas of need in the community, promoting partnerships and long-term impacts. ECCF encourages innovative, measurable projects that align with the fundโs mission to support sustainable regional development.
Two information sessions will be held in December 2024 to provide guidance on the application process. The first session is scheduled for December 10 at 10:30 a.m., and the second session will take place on December 17 at 10:30 a.m.. Participants must register in advance through ECCFโs website.
Applications must be submitted via the Application Portal by the January 15, 2025, deadline. Selected grantees will be required to submit final reports documenting program outcomes and fund usage through the portal.
