The Building Bridges Documentary Fund, administered by the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) and supported by the Building Bridges Program of the Doris Duke Foundation, provides funding for independent documentary films that explore the Muslim experience in the United States. The initiative aims to enrich and diversify narratives around Muslim identity, culture, and life in America.
The 2024–25 Building Bridges Documentary Fund application is open now and will close on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 11:59 PM PDT. The Fund welcomes applications from filmmakers at all career stages—emerging, mid-career, and veteran—and accepts projects across various formats, including feature-length films (60 minutes and over), shorts, and episodic series.
Grants are available for the following project phases:
Research & Development: $10,000 to $25,000
Production: $50,000 to $100,000
Post-production: $50,000 to $100,000
Applicants must submit their proposals via CAAM’s Submittable portal. The Fund is part of a broader national initiative in partnership with the Islamic Scholarship Fund (ISF), Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) Hollywood Bureau, and Sundance Institute.
