The Colorectal Cancer Control Program is a funding initiative issued by the District of Columbia Department of Health (DC Health) through its Community Health Administration and the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Bureau. This Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA), under funding opportunity number CHA-CRC-3.28.25, outlines DC Health’s intention to support projects that aim to improve cancer screening uptake, especially for colorectal, breast, cervical, and lung cancers. The grant is designed to enhance primary care clinics’ capacity to implement evidence-based interventions that increase cancer screening rates, address patient barriers to screening, and improve clinical workflows and electronic health records integration.
Eligible applicants for this opportunity include Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), FQHC look-alikes, and hospitals. To qualify, these institutions must deliver primary care services to the Medicaid population and/or adults aged 18 and older who live in Wards 5, 6, 7, and 8 of Washington, DC. The funding supports organizations that can demonstrate capability in addressing both health care access and social determinants of health to ensure comprehensive cancer screening coverage in underserved communities.
The total anticipated amount available for this grant is $300,000, and DC Health expects to issue between two to three awards. The annual award floor is $50,000, while the maximum ceiling for individual awards is $220,000. There is no cost-sharing or match requirement for applicants. This funding is legislatively authorized under the District of Columbia Budget Support Act and Sections 301(a) and 317K of the Public Health Service Act, with federal support linked to CFDA numbers 93.800 and 93.898. The Request for Applications (RFA) is scheduled for release on March 28, 2025. Applications must be submitted by April 29, 2025, no later than 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time. While a letter of intent is not required, applicants must be registered in the federal System for Award Management (SAM) and have an active UEI number to register in DC Health’s Enterprise Grants Management System (EGMS), which is necessary to apply.
