Grant Description

The 2026–27 VHR Community Grant Program is administered by Visit Hood River, a destination marketing organization dedicated to enhancing and promoting the economic vitality of Hood River, Oregon, through tourism. This annual grant program provides funding support to initiatives that align with Visit Hood River’s mission of fostering sustainable tourism, increasing overnight stays, and enhancing the visitor experience. The program aims to empower local entities, including nonprofit organizations and government agencies, to contribute to the area’s tourism-driven economic development while supporting projects that benefit both visitors and the local community. The program is open to applications for events and projects occurring between July 1, 2026, and June 30, 2027. Funding is intended for marketing, promotion, and event production, provided that these activities drive tourism-related economic activity. Eligible uses of funds include advertising, promotional collateral, website updates, and event logistics. However, expenses not directly tied to tourism outcomes—such as general operating costs, capital improvements, or administrative salaries—are ineligible. Applications must clearly demonstrate how proposed activities will increase overnight stays or draw tourists to the Hood River area. Eligibility is limited to nonprofit organizations with active federal 501(c)(3) status and government agencies that can demonstrate how their proposed project will support tourism. Applications from private businesses or individuals are not eligible. The program encourages collaboration and inclusivity, with preference given to proposals that reach diverse audiences, leverage partnerships, and promote responsible tourism practices. Fiscal sponsorship is not mentioned, and applicants must be directly responsible for carrying out the proposed activities. To apply, eligible organizations must complete the official application form and submit all required documentation via email by 5:00 PM on May 10, 2026. Applications must include a detailed project narrative, budget, and marketing plan. The form must be typed and submitted as a PDF, and supporting documentation may include IRS determination letters and examples of promotional materials. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. A five-person Community Grant Committee, composed of Visit Hood River Board Members and Staff, will evaluate applications based on specific criteria: alignment with Visit Hood River’s mission, potential to generate overnight stays, measurable outcomes, financial need, and capacity to execute the project. Award notifications are expected by June 10, 2026, with funds disbursed by July 1, 2026. Grant recipients will be required to submit a final report by July 31, 2027, detailing the project’s outcomes and use of funds. This grant program operates on an annual cycle and is not a rolling opportunity. Applicants are encouraged to review the program’s guidelines carefully to ensure eligibility and alignment. Questions may be directed to Katie Kadlub at Visit Hood River via email at [email protected] or by phone at 541-490-5349. No pre-application is required. Awarded funds must be spent within the designated fiscal year, and unspent funds must be returned.
