Multicultural Grassroots Grants

The Multicultural Grassroots Grants program provides programmatic funding to nonprofit arts and culture organizations in Forsyth County, North Carolina, that reflect and serve African American, Asian American, Latin American, or Native American communities. The initiative is part of the North Carolina Arts Council’s Grassroots Arts Program and is administered locally. These grants aim to recognize and support organizations that demonstrate both artistic excellence and a consistent commitment to multicultural arts engagement within the county. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that have been in operation for at least one year. Their mission must clearly center around arts and culture, and their services must primarily take place within Forsyth County. State entities and organizations that already receive direct operating support from the North Carolina Arts Council are not eligible for this funding opportunity. Multicultural Grassroots Grants are specifically targeted to organizations with missions that reflect the cultural values and artistic expressions of one or more of the listed communities. Organizations may apply for grant awards ranging from $5,000 to $35,000 to support a broad variety of artistic programming. Examples of eligible uses include performances, festivals, art exhibitions, after-school programs, artist fees, marketing expenses for arts events, and rental costs for equipment or space related to programming. These funds are designed to strengthen the presence and accessibility of multicultural arts across the region, ensuring that diverse voices and practices are supported within the local cultural landscape. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Following the submission deadline, applications will be reviewed in November 2025. Award notifications will be issued in December 2025, and the grant project period will run from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. Grant recipients are required to submit a final report by July 15, 2026. This reporting includes a summary of how the funds were used, evaluation of project outcomes, and financial documentation as required by the administering body.
