Grant Description

The Visit Vicksburg Tourism Grant Program (TGP) is administered by Visit Vicksburg, the tourism office of the Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau. The mission of Visit Vicksburg is to promote tourism in Vicksburg and Warren County by showcasing the city as a premier overnight travel destination. Through this mission, the TGP aims to generate increased sales and lodging tax revenue while supporting local businesses and employment. The TGP provides annual funding for marketing and promotional activities that drive overnight visitation to Vicksburg. Eligible applicants include organizations, attractions, associations, or government entities that plan and execute tourism-related projects targeting visitors from beyond a 50-mile radius or out of state. Projects must take place in Vicksburg or Warren County and are expected to promote the area’s dining, lodging, shopping, and attractions. Examples of eligible initiatives include festivals, public-use attractions such as museums or sporting venues, and other tourism-driven events, excluding reunions, meetings, and conventions. The program offers grants of up to $5,000 per fiscal year, which spans from January 1 to December 31. These funds may be used for advertising, signage, brochures, and promotional activities. Disallowed uses include salaries, utilities, loan payments, personal expenses, and general operating costs. All funded projects must display the Visit Vicksburg logo in promotional materials, and if applicable, on their website for at least 12 months. Recipients are also expected to provide sponsorship recognition equal to the grant amount awarded. The application period for FY 2026 opened on October 15, 2025, and will close on November 21, 2025. Grants are awarded based on criteria such as potential economic impact, increased hotel occupancy, the strength of the marketing plan, and the project's alignment with the city’s tourism goals. Selected applicants will be notified by January 5, 2026, and must confirm acceptance by January 15, 2026. Seventy-five percent of funds will be disbursed by February 1, 2026, and the remaining 25% will be paid following submission and approval of a final report, due within 30 days of the project's completion and no later than December 31, 2026. Failure to use the grant as proposed or to submit a final report can result in disqualification from future funding and potential repayment. Visit Vicksburg retains the right to reject project changes or deny extension requests. All awarded projects must be completed within the fiscal year.
