Grant Description

The Seeley Lake Community Foundation (SLCF) invites applications for its 2025 Community Grants Program, offering grants of up to $3,000 to support projects that benefit the Seeley Lake, Montana, community. Applications are due by January 31, 2025, and grant awards are typically announced by early March. This locally driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization strives to improve the quality of life in Seeley Lake through investments in arts and culture, community and economic development, basic human needs, education, and natural resources and conservation. Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or a qualified governmental unit, hospital, or educational institution. Organizations that lack tax-exempt status may apply if sponsored in writing by a tax-exempt organization. All projects must directly benefit the Seeley Lake community and may include special initiatives, ongoing programs, or one-time capital projects. The program does not fund grants for individuals, debt retirement, endowment contributions, or organizations that discriminate in employment or service provision. Priority is given to proposals with broad community impact or those addressing multiple focus areas. Projects that leverage additional funding sources and involve community partnerships are more likely to be funded. The Foundation encourages applicants to consult with SLCF staff before completing a full application to ensure alignment with program goals and improve the likelihood of success. Applications are reviewed by the SLCF Board of Directors, with funding decisions based on community needs, the quality of proposals received, and the Foundation’s limited grant-making budget. Proposals may receive partial or full funding depending on available resources. Unsuccessful applicants are encouraged to reapply in future cycles and seek feedback for improvement. Grant recipients must submit a simple report, along with 1-2 photos, by January 31 of the following year to document how funds were used. For assistance, applicants can contact the SLCF office at 406-677-3506. Resources such as past applications and reports are available for guidance. Through the generosity of local donors, the SLCF has supported impactful projects for over two decades, fostering innovation and community progress in Seeley Lake.
