The Your Community Foundation (YCF) Community Grants program for the 2025โ26 cycle focuses on addressing Basic Needs and Addiction Prevention within specific counties in West Virginia. This initiative supports grassroots, collaborative efforts to improve quality of life through targeted assistance and prevention programming. Applicants are encouraged to consult with YCFโs Vice President to ensure their proposal aligns with the program's strategic objectives.
The Basic Needs category allows eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits and public institutions to apply for funding to provide essentials such as food, housing, and utility support. These services must directly benefit individuals residing in Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston, or Taylor Counties. The maximum grant amount under this category is $5,000. For the Addiction Prevention category, grants of up to $2,500 are available to organizations proposing programs that reduce the impact of substance abuse on children and families. These initiatives must involve education or support strategies implemented at the community level and may involve collaboration with local coalitions, health departments, schools, probation offices, and other community bodies.
Applicants should design projects that include individuals with lived experience in addiction, align with current best practices from SAMHSAโs Center for Substance Use Prevention, and avoid capital expenses exceeding $1,500. The program prioritizes proposals from communities with high needs and limited resources, with preference given in the following county order: Preston, Taylor, Marion, Harrison, and Monongalia.
The application window opens on August 4, 2025, and closes on September 22, 2025. All applications will be reviewed by YCFโs Grants Committee and finalized by the Board of Directors. Decisions will be announced by November 3, 2025. Selected grantees must submit a final report by August 31 of the year following their award, providing evidence of program completion and outcomes.
