Open Door Grants support nonprofits that contribute to the economic and social prosperity of the community, recognizing their role in fostering a thriving local environment. Applications for these grants are accepted year-round, with reviews conducted monthly. The final deadline for each year is November 30, and organizations are limited to one grant application per calendar year. Grant awards are up to $10,000, and the simplified application process ensures accessibility, removing the need for a professional grant writer. LCF does not fund organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, creed, or ethnicity, and applications for religious or political purposes are not considered. Grant recipients are required to submit a simplified evaluation report one year after receiving the funds. This evaluation assesses how the grant helped the nonprofit achieve its objectives and impact the community. Applications are evaluated based on the nonprofit’s ability to address a clear, compelling need and contribute to the social and economic wellbeing of Lincoln and Lancaster County. The evaluation also considers whether the organization is actively working with marginalized populations to promote equitable opportunities, the nonprofit’s resource management and financial stability, and its reputation for making a positive impact and upholding ethical standards in the community. Nonprofits can apply at a time that strategically aligns with their fiscal calendar. Applications must be submitted through the Blackbaud Award Management platform, and nonprofits with an existing account can use it to apply. For any questions, organizations are encouraged to contact the Vice President for Community Outreach at 402-474-2345 or via email.
