Mini and Major Program Grants
This funding opportunity supports nonprofit organizations and local government entities in Texas to host public humanities programs such as lectures, discussions, and exhibitions.
Humanities Texas offers mini-grants to support small-scale public humanities programs for nonprofit organizations and governmental entities in Texas. These grants provide funding for activities such as lectures, panel discussions, film discussions, interpretive exhibits, and speaker engagements. Mini-grants are particularly suited for funding a speaker or renting a traveling exhibition, including those provided by Humanities Texas. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations and state or local governmental entities. To apply, organizations must have an active account on the System for Award Management (SAM.gov) and possess a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI). Mini-grants are available on a rolling basis throughout the year, and applications must be submitted at least six weeks before the grant period start date. The grant period begins on the first day of the month when promotional or project activities commence. Mini-grants provide up to $2,000 in funding and are designed to be easy to apply for and administer. Decisions on mini-grant applications are made within ten business days after submission. The application process is fully online through the Humanities Texas grants portal, and potential applicants are encouraged to contact Humanities Texas before submitting an application for guidance. Applications are evaluated based on Humanities Texas’s mission and grant guidelines, with priority given to organizations based in Texas, those in underserved counties, and organizations that have not received funding in the past five years. Applications must clearly demonstrate a strong humanities focus, public engagement, and alignment with the intellectual or cultural interests of the target audience. For additional information or assistance, applicants can contact Humanities Texas via email at grants@humanitiestexas.org or call 512-440-1991 (press 1). The grants team is available for guidance, and applicants can reserve a Zoom or phone consultation to discuss their proposals.
