The Kansas CDBG Urgent Need for Disasters program provides funding to help communities address urgent needs resulting from sudden and severe natural or other disasters when no other financial resources are available. The program can fund activities designed to meet urgent health and welfare needs. Applications are evaluated based on project need, readiness, impact, and availability of matching funds. Applications are accepted from January 29, 2024, to December 2, 2024.

Additional Requirements
Eligible applicants under the CDBG program are defined as “general purpose units of government.” These “units” are all counties and cities not participating in the entitlement program. The entitlement program areas in Kansas include Kansas City, Wichita, Topeka, Lawrence, Leavenworth, Overland Park, Manhattan, and all of Johnson County.
