2024 Native American Heritage Fund Grant
This funding opportunity is designed to support K-12 schools, colleges, universities, and local governments in Michigan in enhancing educational programs about Native American history and culture, revising offensive mascots, and promoting mutual respect.
The Native American Heritage Fund is open for applications by public or private K-12 schools (including charter schools), accredited colleges or universities located in Michigan, and local units of government within Michigan. This includes school districts, community college districts, intermediate school districts, and certain other governmental entities. The fund specifically excludes for-profit and wholly online educational institutions. Eligible non-profit organizations must partner with one of the aforementioned entities who will act as the grant fiduciary. Applications must be submitted by June 7, 2024, 5:00 p.m. The fund specifically targets the improvement of educational curricula on Michigan Indian history, the revision of offensive mascots and imagery, and other projects promoting mutual respect.

The Board has determined that colleges and universities whose curriculum and presence in the state is wholly online and for-profit colleges and universities are not eligible applicants. - Nonprofits eligible only when partnering with an authorized educational or governmental entity.
