Arts in Education Grant
This funding opportunity provides financial support for Kโ12 schools in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, to implement creative art projects that enhance education and community engagement.
The Arts in Education Grant is administered by the Arts and Humanities Council of Tuscaloosa County and funded through the Community Foundation of West Alabama. This initiative supports Kโ12 educational institutions across Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, by offering financial assistance for high-quality, art-related projects. The overarching goal is to integrate the arts more robustly into educational environments through activities that foster creativity, cultural enrichment, and community engagement. Teachers from both public and private schools in the county, regardless of subject specialization, are encouraged to apply. The grant specifically funds small-scale or pilot artistic endeavors including but not limited to artist residencies, musical or theatrical performances, dance productions, high-quality art exhibits, and the inclusion of an arts component in larger educational projects. While the grant is not exclusively for art teachers, the proposed projects must demonstrate a clear artistic component and educational purpose. Applicants may request up to $1,000 in grant funding per school, with a required 1:1 match. No more than 25% of the matching contribution may be fulfilled through in-kind support. The grant is structured to disburse half the funds at the start of the project and the remainder upon completion, contingent upon submission and approval of a final report. The final report must be submitted within thirty days of project completion or no later than May 15, 2025, and must include an evaluation narrative, financial documentation, receipts, and photographs. Applications for the 2024โ2025 funding cycle are due by Tuesday, October 1, 2024. If the deadline falls on a weekend, submissions are due the following business day. The Arts Councilโs Grant Review Committee evaluates proposals in March and submits recommendations to the Community Foundation of West Alabama, which finalizes funding decisions. All project activities funded through this grant must be completed by May 15, 2025. Teachers may download the application form from the Arts Council website. Applicants may complete it by hand or use the editable PDF version. Submission options include emailing the completed form to education@tuscarts.org, mailing it to P.O. Box 1117, Tuscaloosa, AL 35403, or hand-delivering it to the Arts Council office at 614 Greensboro Avenue (PARA Building, 2nd Floor). Questions should be directed to Autumn Fuller, Director of Education, at education@tuscarts.org. This grant opportunity is recurring and follows an annual cycle, with each round closing on or around October 1 and requiring project completion by mid-May of the following year. Interested applicants are encouraged to begin preparations well in advance of the submission deadline to ensure alignment with program goals and compliance with funding requirements.
