The City of Grants Pass is inviting applications from providers to operate severe weather shelters in the area for the 2024-2026 period. This grant aims to identify qualified providers who can establish and manage temporary shelters during extreme weather, ensuring safety and shelter for unhoused residents. Applicants are encouraged to propose realistic and sustainable plans for utilizing the available funds to meet the city’s objectives, keeping in mind the limited resources and the city’s need for continuity in shelter services.
The total funding available for this program is $52,580, with the additional provision of an air scrubber machine for use throughout the grant duration. Providers may be selected individually or as teams, and multiple grants may be awarded. The city also reserves the right to retain a portion of the funds and resources if deemed necessary. Grant funds operate on a reimbursement or passthrough basis, with a requirement that any purchased items no longer used for shelter purposes must be returned to the city.
To be competitive, applicants should demonstrate their experience in various operational aspects essential to temporary shelters, including staffing, staff training, financial management, outreach, security, and community relations. Submissions should detail a sustainable project plan, outlining both requested funds and anticipated expenditures, and highlight the applicant’s background in managing similar shelter programs.
Applications are due by Friday, November 8, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. local time. They must be submitted as sealed physical documents to the City Recorder’s Office at City Hall, specifically directed to Karen Frerk, City Recorder, at the Administration Department, Room 205, 101 NW “A” Street, Grants Pass, OR 97526. Faxed applications will not be accepted.
