Cytokinetics Corporate Giving Program
This funding opportunity supports U.S.-based nonprofit organizations that promote diversity in STEM education, improve health equity in cardiovascular care, and provide local community support for food and housing security, particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area and Greater Philadelphia Region.
The Cytokinetics Corporate Giving Program is a philanthropic initiative of Cytokinetics, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company committed to developing therapies for people with diseases involving muscle function, including cardiovascular conditions. As part of its broader corporate social responsibility efforts, the company allocates charitable donations to support nonprofit organizations whose missions align with Cytokinetics' key areas of impact. The program emphasizes diversity in science education, health equity in cardiovascular disease, and local community support, particularly for those at risk of food and housing insecurity. The purpose of the Corporate Giving Program is to support initiatives that foster inclusion and access across three priority areas. The first is Diversity in Science Education, where eligible programs should promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning opportunities for traditionally underrepresented students. This includes middle school, high school, and post-secondary learners. Eligible activities may involve hands-on STEM programming, diversity and inclusion initiatives, college readiness efforts, and scholarship support. The geographic focus for this priority is limited to organizations serving communities in the San Francisco Bay Area or the Greater Philadelphia Region. The second area of focus is Health Equity in Cardiovascular Disease. Cytokinetics seeks to support U.S.-based programs that reduce disparities in cardiovascular care for underserved populations. Acceptable initiatives include public health education, awareness campaigns, community-led health programs, and novel approaches that expand access to cardiovascular services. Programs may be implemented at the national or local level, but must clearly benefit underserved communities and contribute to reducing health disparities. The third priority is Local Community Support, aimed at strengthening the resilience of at-risk communities where Cytokinetics operates. This funding area supports efforts that ensure access to food and housing, including food assistance programs, housing aid, and affordable housing initiatives. As with STEM education, the eligible geographic regions for this priority are the San Francisco Bay Area and the Greater Philadelphia Region. Only qualified U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply. Organizations must not be healthcare providers, treatment facilities, or individuals involved in the direct provision of care. Additionally, funding is not available for organizations with policies that discriminate based on race, religion, gender, identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or other protected statuses. Applications must align with the corporate giving focus areas. Funding is unrestricted and may be used for general support or event sponsorship, but may not be used primarily for staff salaries, fringe benefits, or consumables like food and entertainment. Applications will be accepted exclusively through the online portal between June 9 and August 4, 2025. All applicants must register through the portal, create an account, and submit a complete application by the deadline. Required documentation includes organization and program details, budget, proposed outcomes, tax status confirmation, and payee information. The review committee will assess proposals based on alignment with the corporate giving priorities and selection criteria. Final decisions will be communicated by late November 2025. Awardees must submit a final outcomes report detailing the impact of the funded initiative. Questions about the application or funding process may be directed to grants@cytokinetics.com.
