This program funds non-recurring expenses associated with exploring or implementing partnerships, including feasibility studies, professional consultations, technical assistance, and training for staff and boards. Priority is given to alliances that strengthen community systems such as education, employment, housing, and health.
Eligible applicants are nonprofits with a demonstrated record of quality service, organizational capacity, and board and staff support for the proposed alliance. The program will not fund initiatives to replace individual staff positions, strengthen single organizations in isolation, or cover start-up costs or retroactive expenses. Projects must emphasize shared administrative functions, service delivery improvements, or collaborative cost-saving strategies.
Applications follow a two-step process, beginning with a Letter of Intent (LOI) due by February 15. Invited applicants must submit a full proposal by March 20. LOIs must describe the collaboration, participating organizations, anticipated roles, funding needs, and expected efficiencies. Full proposals expand on these details, outlining the project’s purpose, implementation timeline, evaluation criteria, and budget. Documentation must include board approvals, financial statements, and detailed project plans for all participating organizations.
Applications are reviewed by a steering committee composed of foundation representatives and community partners. Applicants may be asked to provide additional information or meet with the committee during the review process. The partnership encourages pre-application discussions to ensure alignment with program goals.
