Community Good Grant Program 2025

The Community Foundation Alliance administers the Community Good Grants Program to support a broad range of community-focused projects in Spencer County, Indiana. The Foundation serves as a regional charitable organization, acting as a conduit for philanthropic resources and delivering financial assistance to nonprofits and public agencies. Funding for this program is made possible through Community Good Unrestricted Funds and Field of Interest Funds, which collectively aim to support diverse local initiatives. The Community Good Grants Program operates on an annual grant cycle that opens each June and concludes in October. The final deadline for submitting applications for the 2025 cycle is July 28, 2025. Applicants are encouraged to review current cycle instructions and requirements, as these may change from year to year. Applications submitted after the posted deadline will not be considered. Grants are generally intended to support one-time projects, though applications for expansions or related outgrowths of previously funded initiatives may also be considered. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations with valid 501(c)(3) and 509(a) tax-exempt status and government agencies serving Spencer County. Organizations that do not possess 501(c)(3) status may apply if the proposed project is charitable and meets a community need, provided they secure a fiscal sponsor. In such cases, a letter from the fiscal sponsor's board president must confirm the agreement to receive and administer grant funds if awarded. Funding is available across several programmatic areas, including arts and culture, community development, education, health, human services, and other civic endeavors such as environment, recreation, and youth development. However, the program does not fund religious or political activities, endowment or debt reduction, general operating costs unrelated to the proposed project, capital campaigns, annual appeals, membership contributions, or travel expenses for individuals or groups. New applicants are encouraged to schedule an orientation meeting with the Regional Director of Community Engagement and Impact to learn more about the grant opportunity and seek clarification on the application process. Required application attachments include the organization’s board roster with affiliations, the current annual operating budget, the latest financial statements, and a fiscal sponsor agreement if applicable. All grant applicants will be notified of funding decisions by October 24, 2025. A final report may be required at the end of the project and detailed instructions will be provided within the grant agreement.
