- Applicants must allow safe shooting of hunting arms, including shotguns, archery equipment, black powder arms, rifles, and pistols, and must provide use of the facility by hunter education classes for no fee. - The program prioritizes grant applications that provide facilities for the greatest number of shooters, accommodate a variety of hunting arms, and meet other criteria established by the department. Grants cannot exceed 30% of the eligible funds for any single facility in any year, and the department promotes the use of publicly owned land for shooting range facilities.
