Grant Description

The Hoglund Foundation is a private philanthropic organization dedicated to improving the lives of families and at-risk children in Dallas, Texas. The foundation focuses its support on nonprofits that provide services in family support and education. Rooted in a mission to deliver meaningful and measurable change, the foundation emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and sustainable impact in its grantmaking. Only programs and organizations that serve the City of Dallas are eligible to receive funding. The foundation funds initiatives in two primary areas. Family Support includes services that maintain family stability, prevent child abuse, and promote individual and family responsibility to break cycles of poverty and dependency. Education grants focus on improving systems through cost-effective, scalable programs with proven results, and initiatives that support classroom instruction and teacher effectiveness. Applicants are expected to demonstrate how their efforts uniquely address unmet community needs, practice strong fiscal and organizational management, and collaborate with other entities to amplify the grant’s impact. To qualify for a Hoglund Foundation grant, organizations must have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and be able to provide IRS documentation. Programs or projects eligible for support include specific initiatives, capital campaigns, or general operations. Applications must be submitted online, and only fully completed applications will be considered. If technical difficulties arise, applicants may reach out via phone or email for assistance. Organizations may apply only once per year and must wait until any prior multi-year funding is complete before reapplying. The foundation reviews applications three times annually. The submission deadlines are February 1, June 1, and October 1, with corresponding board meeting dates of April 30, August 15, and December 16. First-time applicants are required to submit a one-page Letter of Intent (LOI) via email to Sandy@hoglundfoundation.org. The LOI must include the organization’s mission, contact email and phone number, a description of the program and funding needs, and the requested grant amount. Evaluation criteria include alignment with the foundation’s mission, the organization’s track record of sound management, the scope of community impact, and the program’s potential for systemic improvement. Site visits may be arranged if additional assessment is needed. Sample past recipients reflect a broad range of impactful local initiatives, such as education support, mental wellness programs, and youth development. For more information, applicants may contact the foundation by calling 214-987-3605 or emailing info@hoglundfoundation.org. The foundation is located at 5910 N. Central Expressway, Suite 255, Dallas, TX 75206.
