The Versafund Grant Program, operated by the Versacare Foundation, is a private, faith-based grant initiative that supports Seventh-day Adventist (SDA)-affiliated organizations through multiple grant tiers. This program aims to fund projects consistent with the missions of both the Versacare Foundation and the SDA Church. Projects are prioritized based on their impact on education, health, community engagement, social justice, and other critical areas aligned with the SDA values.
Versacare offers four types of grants, each tailored to different levels of organizational capacity and project scale:
K-12 Grants provide up to $10,000 depending on school size and are available year-round to SDA-sponsored K-12, primary, middle, or high schools.
Catalyst Grants, also accepted year-round, range from $2,500 to $10,000 and are ideal for organizations applying for the first time or in need of a small boost.
Venture Grants offer between $10,001 and $40,000 and are suited for stable organizations with defined goals and proven track records.
Impact Grants exceed $40,000 and are by invitation only, following the submission of a successful Concept Note. These are awarded to initiatives demonstrating proven success and innovation.
Grant applications are primarily open to SDA-affiliated 501(c)(3) nonprofits, denominational entities, and faith-based organizations with a clear link to the SDA Churchโeither through leadership, founding, or their primary beneficiaries. Applicants must have operated continuously for at least two years and meet additional eligibility criteria. Ineligible applicants include individuals, third-party fiscal sponsors, startups, and those not affiliated with the SDA Church.
Geographic priorities include the North American Division and Inter-American Division territories, such as Central America, the Caribbean, Colombia, Venezuela, and Micronesia. Projects must focus on SDA-aligned priorities like education, underserved communities, wellness, and youth development. However, funding is typically not provided for capital improvements, salaries, perishables, scholarships, or start-up ventures without special approval.
Applications for K-12 and Catalyst Grants are reviewed quarterly, with awards made in January, April, July, and October. Venture and Impact Grant applications are due by December 31, with funding decisions announced in April. Impact Grant applicants must first submit a Concept Note by October 31.
