Project Grants
This grant provides $10,000 to Maine artists for innovative and unconventional projects across various artistic disciplines, encouraging community engagement and collaboration.
The Ellis-Beauregard Foundation is offering five project grants of $10,000 each to Maine artists working across all artistic disciplines. The grant supports projects that will be completed during the 2026 grant year, with funds distributed by December 2025. The Foundation prioritizes support for bold, risk-taking, and unconventional work that may occur both within and beyond traditional exhibition venues. Projects that are eligible for funding include interventions, site-specific installations, publications, curatorial initiatives, and web or media-based works. The Foundation encourages community engagement, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and critical dialogue. Applications may focus on a distinct chapter or component of a larger body of work, as long as the proposed scope is clearly articulated. Applicants must submit a project narrative, a resume, a proposed budget, and ten work samples. The narrative should describe the project’s goals, intended public interface, and a breakdown of how the grant funds will be used. It is mandatory for recipients to submit a final report; failure to do so will result in disqualification from future funding. Additionally, recipients must credit the Ellis-Beauregard Foundation in all public communications related to the funded project. Applications open on June 1, 2025, and close on August 1, 2025. Artists must apply through the Foundation's Submittable page. Eligibility is limited to artists who are 18 years of age or older and are currently residing in Maine. Applicants must not be enrolled in a degree-granting program at the time of application. Collaborative artist teams are eligible to apply. The 2025 project grants will be evaluated by a jury including Takako Tanabe, Owner and Director of Ulterior Gallery in New York City, and Selena Kimball, an artist and educator. Contact information for the jurors is available through their respective websites. In previous years, recipients have included a wide array of multidisciplinary artists such as AB Brown, Adriane Herman, Elaine Ng, Joshua Reiman, Veronica Perez, Olivia Spring, Pamela Moulton, Brian Evans, Carolina Gonzalez, Asha Tamirisa, Wade Kavanaugh, and Stephen Nguyen. These recipients reflect the Foundation’s commitment to fostering innovative and impactful artistic work in Maine.
