The South32 Hermosa Community Fund supports nonprofit organizations operating in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. Held at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona and its affiliate, the Santa Cruz Community Foundation, the fund has awarded 151 grants totaling over $1.26 million since its launch in May 2019. The initiative is backed by South32, a global mining and metals company committed to improving lives and natural resource development.
This funding opportunity focuses on enhancing education and leadership, promoting economic participation, ensuring good health and social wellbeing, and fostering natural resource resilience. Grants of up to $10,000 are available each year, with a total pool of $80,000 allocated per cycle. Only one application may be submitted per organization per fiscal year.
Applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits in good standing or have a qualifying fiscal sponsor. They must operate in Santa Cruz County and demonstrate local governance, community involvement, and on-the-ground accountability. Organizations with national affiliation must ensure grant funds are strictly used for local impact.
Applications for the current cycle open on June 2, 2025, and close on June 27, 2025, at 5:00 PM MST. Submissions are accepted through the Community Foundation for Southern Arizonaβs online portal. All recipients must submit a final report upon project completion or the end of the grant cycle. Site visits may be scheduled as part of the review process.
Grant selection will prioritize projects that feature collaborative planning, community participation, measurable outcomes, and a sustainability plan. Applicants are encouraged to leverage local resources and highlight the strengths of their target population.
