Grant Description

The Lycoming County Emergency Service Grant Program provides financial assistance to eligible fire, emergency medical, and rescue service organizations located in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Administered through a competitive application process, the program is designed to enhance public safety by improving the operational capacity, facilities, equipment, and personnel support systems of emergency response agencies throughout the county. A total of $250,000 is available through this grant cycle. Applicants may request a minimum of $10,000 and a maximum of $100,000. Funding may be used for a wide range of eligible expenses, including the construction or renovation of facilities, acquisition or repair of equipment, training and certification for personnel, and public education initiatives. In addition, support for recruitment and retention—such as volunteer incentive programs or programs targeting youth participation—is also allowed. Applications that involve collaboration between two or more qualifying organizations will receive strong preference in the evaluation process. Eligibility is restricted to nonprofit or municipal organizations providing emergency response services within Lycoming County. This includes volunteer fire companies, municipal fire departments, emergency medical service (EMS) providers, and rescue companies. All applicants must be chartered corporations, associations, or organizations based in Lycoming County. EMS providers must be licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and operate independently from hospitals. Volunteer fire companies must provide fire protection and may also offer other voluntary emergency services, including ambulance or rescue support. Applications must be submitted online no later than November 1. The final award decisions will be announced following the December meeting of the First Community Foundation Partnership (FCFP) Board. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered, and all applicants must ensure compliance with eligibility and submission criteria to remain in contention. The grant aims to strengthen emergency response capabilities county-wide by investing in infrastructure, equipment, personnel, and community outreach. The program also underscores the value of collaboration between agencies, encouraging joint initiatives that can maximize community impact and operational efficiency. Interested organizations are advised to begin preparing their applications early and to coordinate with potential partners if pursuing a collaborative proposal.
