Community Grant Program
This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations in Brunswick, New Hanover, Onslow, and Pender Counties that are addressing critical community issues such as food insecurity, human trafficking, and environmental sustainability.
The Junior League of Wilmington, NC (JLWNC), a nonprofit organization composed of women committed to promoting voluntarism and developing the potential of women, has announced the 2026 Community Grant Program. This initiative aligns with the League’s mission to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. Since its inception, JLWNC has invested over $1 million and more than 10,000 volunteer hours into Wilmington and the surrounding Cape Fear Region. It has historically founded or supported a wide range of community institutions, including the Children’s Museum of Wilmington, Girls Inc., and the Carousel Center, among others. The 2026 Community Grant Program aims to support nonprofit organizations that are making a measurable impact in Brunswick, New Hanover, Onslow, and Pender Counties. Each selected organization may receive up to $2,500 to be used toward programmatic efforts addressing immediate community service needs. This initiative emphasizes the Junior League’s ongoing commitment to foster positive change and empower local initiatives that align with its community-driven objectives. The League prioritizes projects that respond directly to regional concerns such as food insecurity, human trafficking, and environmental sustainability, as evidenced by past support to organizations like NourishNC and the Plastic Ocean Project. Grants must be used strictly for programmatic purposes. The League does not provide funding for capital expenditures, staff compensation, office-related expenses, or advertising and marketing costs. Applicants are expected to align their proposals with these usage guidelines to be considered. All application forms must be completed and submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026. Supporting materials including photos or videos may be emailed to [email protected] by the same deadline to enhance the submission. Recipients will be notified by April 15, 2026. Successful applicants must expend awarded funds by November 1, 2026, and submit a final impact report by November 30, 2026, detailing how the grant funds were utilized and the outcomes achieved. This reporting requirement ensures transparency and reinforces the League’s dedication to measurable community advancement. The application process is straightforward and designed to be accessible for organizations operating at various stages of development. While a formal pre-application stage is not required, applicants must ensure they meet eligibility criteria and prepare comprehensive documentation reflecting their programmatic goals. The League encourages organizations to emphasize their community engagement and alignment with the League’s mission when applying.
