Grant Description

The Central Minnesota Arts Grants are administered annually by the Central Minnesota Community Foundation, a philanthropic institution dedicated to enriching the lives of residents across the region. This foundation plays a key role in funding initiatives that uplift communities through strategic investment in civic, cultural, educational, and artistic projects. In 2026, the Foundation continues its commitment to the arts with a focused grant round supporting visual arts as a catalyst for community engagement and placemaking. The 2026 grant cycle specifically supports small to medium-sized arts organizations, educational institutions, and governmental entities working within Benton, Stearns, Sherburne, and Wright counties. The funding initiative is designed to enable the creation of permanent or long-lasting visual art installations in public spaces. Examples include murals, mosaics, sculptures, installations, and similar non-performing arts. Projects should enhance community identity and vibrancy, reflecting the values and stories of the people they serve. The initiative’s broader goal is to strengthen regional pride and cohesion through creative expression that is both visible and accessible. Applicants are encouraged to propose projects that foster community participation, especially among youth. Collaborative efforts that involve multiple stakeholders and community partners will be given favorable consideration. The Foundation prioritizes proposals that reflect diverse local identities and cultures, especially those advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Projects that demonstrate potential to attract additional community investment and engagement are also viewed positively. The application process is streamlined through the CommunityGiving Grant Management System. Interested applicants must submit their proposals online. The review process is managed by a Grant Advisory Committee, which provides funding recommendations to the Board of Directors. All decisions are finalized by the Board, with applicants notified via email. Grant disbursement occurs upon receipt of an electronically signed Grant Agreement. Grantees are required to submit a Final Report; a Progress Report may also be requested. The 2026 grant round opened on February 1 and will close on March 31 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. All award decisions are expected within 90 days after the deadline. While the Foundation does not support multi-year projects directly, organizations may reapply in future cycles for continued funding. Ineligible activities include religious or political purposes, event sponsorships, debt retirement, or projects already completed. Individuals are not eligible to apply, and academic scholarships or travel grants are outside the scope of this funding. Questions about the grant or application system can be directed to the Central Minnesota Community Foundation at (320) 257-9715. The Foundation's office is located at 101 7th Avenue S., #100, St. Cloud, MN 56301, and operates Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
