The Rees-Jones Foundation, a Texas-based Christian philanthropic organization, was established in 2006 with the mission of serving God by serving others. The foundation partners with North Texas charities to address the needs of vulnerable children and youth, placing a strong emphasis on measurable outcomes and Christ-centered mission alignment. One of its key funding areas is Youth Formation, which supports organizations that create safe and nurturing environments where youth can develop character, values, and life skills in line with Christian principles.
The Youth Formation portfolio targets programs that offer structured, instructive experiences for young people, helping them realize their God-given potential. These grants support a broad spectrum of youth-focused activities, including faith-based education, enrichment programs, structured mentoring, youth camping experiences, scouting programs, and other systems of youth development that reinforce character formation. Through these initiatives, the foundation seeks to provide youth with safe places to grow emotionally, spiritually, and socially.
To be eligible for funding, applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving children and youth in the Dallas-Fort Worth area or surrounding counties. The foundation only funds programs within this geographic scope. Applications from organizations serving other areas, regardless of their mission alignment, are not eligible. The foundation also excludes private foundations, commercial businesses, and individuals from applying.
Organizations seeking funding begin by registering in the foundation’s online portal. New applicants or existing grantees proposing new programs are encouraged to submit a Letter of Inquiry. This initial step helps determine mission fit before a full proposal is invited. There are no formal deadlines, but applicants are advised to apply at least four months in advance of their funding needs. Grantees are expected to submit final reports before reapplying.
Financially, the foundation typically limits its grants to no more than 25% of a project’s total budget and no more than 10% of an organization’s annual operating budget. The foundation does not fund scholarships, endowments, individual support, lobbying activities, or event sponsorships. Its review process prioritizes clear alignment with mission, strong leadership, and the potential for long-term youth impact through faith-centered guidance.
