The Junior League of Detroit (JLD) is now accepting applications for its Community Grants program. This initiative supports nonprofit organizations that improve the health and welfare of children in Wayne County, Michigan. Grants range from $500 to $5,000 and are awarded twice annually, with application deadlines on October 1 and March 1.
To be eligible, applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits or have umbrella status with a tax-exempt entity. Organizations must have a physical presence in Wayne County or demonstrate that at least 75% of their clients reside there. JLD gives preference to new projects and organizations and does not fund operating expenses, salaries, transportation, or capital improvements.
Each application must include a detailed project description, an itemized budget for requested funds, and a CPA-prepared or organization-prepared financial statement from the previous fiscal year. Applicants must also show a need, outline clear goals and outcomes, provide a project evaluation plan, and demonstrate other support for the project.
All applications must be submitted via email to communitygrants@jldetroit.org. Mailed submissions are not accepted. The JLD Board of Directors makes final grant decisions approximately eight weeks after the submission deadline, following recommendations by the Community Grants Committee.
