Grant Description

The Window Grant is a reimbursement-based funding program established by the City of Albuquerque to assist local organizations with the financial challenges associated with repairing or replacing broken or vandalized windows. Developed through a collaborative effort between the City’s Economic Development Department’s Small Business Office, the Health, Housing & Homelessness Department, and the Albuquerque Police Department (APD), the initiative reflects a citywide commitment to maintaining the safety, aesthetics, and economic vitality of Albuquerque’s neighborhoods. The program is especially focused on supporting areas identified as Pockets of Poverty, ensuring that revitalization efforts are inclusive and targeted toward high-need zones. The grant supports reimbursement of up to 80% of eligible repair or replacement costs, not including gross receipts tax. Businesses and organizations can receive up to $3,000 in reimbursement funding, with an additional $1,000 available for those who utilize environmentally sustainable “green” or security glass, increasing the total potential award to $4,000. Both past and anticipated repair work are eligible: completed repairs are reimbursable upon submittal of a complete application, while upcoming work must be completed within 45 days of the accepted application and survey enrollment. Eligible applicants include brick-and-mortar businesses, nonprofit 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) organizations, and educational entities, all of which must operate within Albuquerque city limits and employ no more than 25 individuals. A critical requirement is the applicant’s participation in the APD Business Crime Prevention Security Survey, which must be completed or scheduled as part of the application process. Additionally, the window damage must have occurred on or after July 1, 2025, and be verified with appropriate documentation. Applicants must submit a police report dated July 1, 2025, or later, along with time- and date-stamped photos of both damaged and repaired windows, an itemized vendor receipt, and proof of payment. The city stresses that the responsibility for choosing a qualified vendor lies solely with the business or organization, and the city holds no liability for work performed under the program. Applications will be reviewed by the City’s Small Business Office. There is no fixed deadline; applications are accepted on a rolling basis until funds are depleted. Applicants will receive notification once their application has been reviewed. For questions or assistance, individuals can contact Frankie Hermosillo, Senior Economic Developer, via email at [email protected] or phone at 505-991-6474. The grant underscores Albuquerque’s investment in fostering secure and welcoming business environments citywide.
