Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund Program FY 2025

The Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) Program for FY 2025, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in North Macedonia, invites applications from alumni of U.S. government-funded exchange programs to implement innovative projects that leverage skills gained through their exchange experiences. This program supports projects that directly address the Embassy’s goals and advance U.S. foreign policy interests in North Macedonia. Applications are due by January 31, 2025, at 6:00 PM CET, and selected projects are expected to begin by September 2025, with a performance period of up to 12 months. The AEIF has a total funding pool of $70,000, with awards typically ranging from $5,000 to $35,000 each. Eligible applicants are alumni-led teams from North Macedonia, composed of at least two members who have participated in U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs. They must apply through non-profit organizations, think tanks, or academic institutions that will assist in project implementation. All organizations must have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) and active SAM.gov registration. Proposals must address one or more specific themes, including promoting democratic values, rule of law, social cohesion, youth empowerment, renewable energy initiatives, countering disinformation, and fostering U.S.-North Macedonia ties. Projects should exclusively take place outside the U.S. or its territories. Applications require several components, including a completed AEIF application form and budget. Proposals should address a well-defined target audience, provide a project summary with goals and objectives, and outline methods and timelines. Additionally, they must include a communication and outreach strategy, identify expected direct and indirect beneficiaries, list local partners, and include a plan for project monitoring and evaluation. Budgets must detail anticipated costs by category, including travel, supplies, and personnel, and should align with the project’s goals. All materials should be in English, with budgets in U.S. dollars. Review criteria focus on the relevance to the application theme, project purpose, alumni involvement, local partner engagement, and impact. The Embassy will prioritize projects that demonstrate a robust understanding of local context, engagement with underserved communities, and commitment to advancing equity across various social factors, including race, religion, and gender identity. The evaluation process includes both embassy-based and D.C.-based committees. The AEIF does not fund certain costs, including airfare to/from the U.S., salaries or overhead, large equipment purchases, or activities related to lobbying or partisan political engagement. Award notifications will be sent by September 30, 2025, with financial reporting required throughout the grant period to document progress and adherence to grant objectives.
