Grant Description

The Middleton Endowment (ME) is a component fund of the Madison Community Foundation, a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) community trust. Its mission is to improve the quality of life in the Middleton area for both current residents and future generations. The fund supports local nonprofit efforts that align with its goal of fostering a vibrant and inclusive community. The primary funding areas include cultural enrichment, community development, education, natural and historic preservation, and addressing the essential needs of Middleton area residents. ME accepts grant applications from nonprofit organizations located in the City of Middleton, the Town of Middleton, and the communities served by the Middleton-Cross Plains School District. In addition, nonprofit agencies situated on the far west side of Madison may be considered eligible. All applicants must hold valid 501(c)(3) nonprofit status to qualify for funding. The endowment does not support endowments themselves, loans or re-granting programs, multi-year commitments, religious activities, individuals or non-registered groups, other foundations, discriminatory organizations, political activities, or travel expenses. Each year, ME runs two funding cycles, with application deadlines on April 30 and October 31. Applications are evaluated on their potential to meet community needs and the degree to which they align with ME's stated funding priorities. Grant amounts typically range from $100 to $1,000, with any request exceeding $1,000 automatically declined. Additionally, applicants must wait at least 12 months following the submission of their final report before reapplying for new funding. ME does not support legacy grants that aim to fund the same program annually without variation. The application process is straightforward and designed to accommodate small to medium-sized nonprofit organizations. Applicants are required to complete the provided application form, include a one-page narrative describing the project and organization, submit proof of 501(c)(3) status, and provide a current roster of the organization's board members. Incomplete applications will not be considered for funding. All materials must be scanned and emailed to middletonendowment@gmail.com. Final reporting is a mandatory component of the grant lifecycle. Grantees must submit a concise one-page report detailing the results and impact of their funded initiative. This report is a prerequisite for eligibility in future ME grant cycles. This ensures that the fund maintains accountability and continues to support impactful projects within its target community. The Middleton Endowment aims to serve as a catalyst for positive change in the Middleton area, encouraging grassroots efforts to enrich local culture, improve infrastructure, and address social needs. Through its semi-annual grant program, ME provides targeted financial support to small nonprofit organizations that are rooted in their communities and focused on creating sustainable benefits.
