DWF Foundation Grant
This grant provides financial support to registered charities focused on education, employability, homelessness, health and wellbeing, and environmental sustainability in regions where the organization operates.
The DWF Foundation is an independent charitable organization established by DWF, an international legal and business services firm, with a vision to enable communities to achieve their full potential. Since its inception in December 2015, the Foundation has distributed over £1.5 million in grants to registered charities operating in regions where DWF has an active presence. It commemorated its 10th anniversary in December 2025, marking a decade of sustained philanthropic impact. The Foundation's operational costs are fully covered by DWF, ensuring that all funds raised are allocated directly to charitable causes. This model reflects DWF’s strong corporate social responsibility values, embedding community support and contribution into its organizational culture. The Foundation funds initiatives that align with one or more of five core themes: education, employability, homelessness, health and wellbeing, and environmental sustainability. These themes mirror DWF’s broader social mission and guide the selection of supported projects. Grants are directed toward programs that address specific community issues, support voluntary and community group effectiveness, promote inclusive community engagement, and enable youth skill development for community benefit. The Foundation explicitly avoids funding areas such as academic research, statutory responsibilities, animal welfare, core salary costs, religious or political activities, or initiatives that have already occurred. Grants from the DWF Foundation are generally modest, typically not exceeding £5,000. There is no minimum award threshold, but the Foundation does not support multi-year funding. Applications are welcomed exclusively from registered charities, and for organizations operating internationally, prior approval from the Foundation Manager is required before application submission. Eligible countries include Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Qatar, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States. DWF Foundation does not currently fund projects in Singapore, South Africa, or Turkey despite associations in those regions. Applications must be submitted using the Foundation’s official Grant Application Form, available through its website. The application process begins with reviewing the grant guidelines, followed by submitting the online form. International applicants must first consult with the Foundation Manager to confirm eligibility. For all applicants, the Foundation conducts a multi-step review involving local CSR groups, Foundation Trustees, and final approvals from the Grant Committee. Application deadlines are January 31, June 30, and September 30 each year, with decisions communicated by May, October, and January respectively, depending on the submission cycle. Applicants are encouraged to attend an online workshop to understand the application process more deeply. References are required and must be from individuals independent of the applicant organization unless they are known personally within DWF. The Foundation allows repeat applications no sooner than 12 months after a previous award. Notification of grant decisions typically occurs within one month following the relevant Grant Committee meeting. Charities are advised to assume an unsuccessful outcome if they have not heard back within four months of submission. The primary contact for all queries related to applications is Clare Beavan, the Foundation Manager. Applicants may reach her by email or phone for additional guidance. The Foundation’s guidelines emphasize support not just through funding, but also through mentoring, employee engagement, and skills-based volunteering. This holistic approach ensures the Foundation contributes meaningfully to the development and empowerment of communities across its international footprint.
