Grant Description

The Detwiler Family Foundation is a private funder focused on enriching the lives of children and families through targeted support for nonprofit programming. The foundation has a specific interest in aiding underserved populations and prioritizes support for initiatives that deliver direct, positive impacts to communities in which the foundation has a presence. The primary funding purpose of the Detwiler Family Foundation is to support nonprofit organizations working in five key service areas: food and housing insecurity among children and families, access to mental health and medical services for children, educational and after-school programming for disadvantaged youth, support for children with disabilities, and arts and cultural programs benefiting children who have experienced trauma. Organizations can apply for funding for specific projects or programs that enhance their service delivery to children. Grants typically range from $10,000 to $50,000. Projects funded by the foundation must be implemented by December 31, 2025. Recipients are required to submit a results summary and project photos within 30 days of project completion. This reporting is mandatory, and failure to comply may result in ineligibility for future funding. Eligibility is limited to nonprofit organizations that have been granted tax-exempt status under Sections 501(c)(3) or 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code and are classified as “not a private foundation” under Section 509(a). Eligible applicants may include hospitals, educational institutions, and governmental entities that meet these requirements. Individuals and organizations without an IRS determination letter are not eligible. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis but must be submitted by July 1, 2025. Awards will be announced by October 1, 2025. Organizations located outside of the foundation’s target geographic areas—Chester or Montgomery Counties in Pennsylvania, Flathead County in Montana, Fulton and DeKalb Counties in Atlanta, Georgia, Multnomah County in Portland, Oregon, and the Upper Valley region of Vermont and New Hampshire—will only be considered if they are specifically solicited by a representative of the foundation. Applications must be submitted through WizeHive. Previous grantees between 2016 and 2024 already have accounts in the system and can log in using their previously associated email addresses. For assistance, applicants may contact the foundation via detwilerfamilyfoundation@gmail.com.
