The Kuni Foundation is offering grant funding through its Intellectual & Developmental Disability (IDD) Grants program, focused on supporting housing and research initiatives that improve the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This opportunity is open to nonprofit organizations based in Oregon and Washington that directly serve individuals with IDD.
The Transformation Grants for IDD Housing aim to address the national crisis in quality, affordable housing for adults with IDD. The program supports person-centered housing models that are inclusive, community-based, and adaptable to residents’ preferences and needs. Priority is given to housing efforts that are diverse, accessible to a wide socioeconomic range, and demonstrate strong collaboration with stakeholders to ensure innovation and scalability.
Alongside housing, the Foundation also offers Transformation Grants for IDD Research. These grants support research efforts that develop or enhance therapies, improve early detection, and promote equity in healthcare access for people with IDD. Proposals may focus on autism spectrum disorder, reducing barriers to screenings, and increasing access to appropriate mental and physical healthcare.
Organizations can apply for up to $900,000 over three years for housing-related grants, with a maximum of $300,000 per year. For research projects, grants are available for up to two years, with a maximum of $150,000 annually, totaling up to $300,000. Grants can be structured as one-year or multi-year commitments depending on project scope.
Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits with a primary mission of serving people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Applicants using a fiscal sponsor must have a partnership in place for at least six months and the sponsor must have a successful operational track record of at least five years. All applications are due by August 15, 2025.
